Skinhead

Skinhead is a sub-culture or youth culture that has its roots in the late 60s and 70s and is typically made up of working class men and women.

The skinhead look came about from working class and conservative dress.

Skinheads today typically wear boots straight-laced with red or white laces, flight or bomber jackets patterned after Alpha Industries MA-1, suspenders/braces, polo style button up collar shirts, flat caps, and blue jeans or camouflage BDU pants, although denim, leather and Carharts are not uncommon. A part of the skinhead image, as the name suggest, is shaved or short cropped hair. Long sideburns, a.k.a, "chops, or lamb-chops" are also common.

Skinhead is not just a fashion, wearing boots and braces with a shaved head does not make somebody a skinhead, no more than cowboy boots and a cowboy hat makes somebody a cowboy, or a mohawk and torn clothes make somebody a punk rocker. This is more than just a haircut, it’s a way of life!

Some live this way of life and don’t even wear or dress like any of the above, and there people are called "Herberts".

Skinheads often listen to and play a style of music known as "oi" or "skinhead rock and roll", as well as other styles of music with no fixed boundaries, although oi is the only style of music skinheads can truly call their own. The word "oi" is a word used in the British Isles and many countries in Europe to get someone¿s attention, show surprise to express disapproval. It would be to Americans the equivalent to the word ¿hey¿. Although first used in a song in 1932, the word came into common use in songs with the introduction of punk rock and used even more by skinhead bands. The music was first given the name in 1980, by British journalist and left wing activist Garry Bushell.

Girls can also be skinheads. Skinhead girls, often called "byrds" are just as much skinheads as men. Skinhead girls normally do not shave their heads (unless she is a dyke!) but instead typically have what¿s known as a Chelsea cut, named after a part of London England well known for its rough streets and working class people. A true skinhead girl does not claim skin because she wants to impress her skinhead boyfriend, nor to fit in. Girls who dress as byrds just because they are dating a skinhead are often called "Skin by Injection", or SBI for short. A true skinhead girl is never a whore, because you cant have pride in being a whore, and a skinhead has no shame. A skinhead girl is a warrior, not a groupie or a slut!

So, what’s a skinhead you ask? I will try to tell you but you will never really know unless you’ve known one or been one yourself. But after reading this, now at least you can use your imagination to give you a better idea, so perhaps you can separate the lies from the truth instead of persecute, and perceive skinheads as the root of all evil.

A skinhead stands proud and holds his head up high. He is proud of what he is and does and bears no shame. He takes pride n his country and his heritage, and he is not afraid to show his pride to the world.

A skinhead stands by his own. They stand by each other like brothers, like a wolfpack, or like a lion’s pride. Skinheads are brothers (and sisters), treat each other as such.

A skinhead is loyal and true, he stands by brothers and holds his flag up high, he stands by his brothers in good times and in bad times, he will not leave a brother’s side in a fight even when the odds are against him 25 to 1, if his brother goes down, he will go down fighting in his brother’s defense. Skinheads often have loyalty to their neighborhood, town, city, state, country, race, crew, firm, friends, family, political party or organization, but also and always, to each other.

A skinhead fights for what he believes, he fights for what he knows is the truth. He doesn’t change what he thinks or how he feels to make others happy; He doesn’t change his beliefs to make friends, or to avoid enemies. He doesn’t just sit and whine about what he thinks is wrong or injustice in the world, he goes out and makes a stand. He speaks his mind, he fly’s his flag and he will fight till he wins. Skinheads are the ultimate patriots, professional activist, professional troublemakers and also professional hell raisers. If you wont stand up for what you believe in, you are not a skinhead, for you its just a haircut.

A skinhead earns his living, he doesn’t have to beg or steal. And when in times of need his brothers stand by him until he can get back on his feet again. A skinhead takes pride as the working man, on his own feet he stands. Blue collar, working class, never a bum or mooch, never a leech he is not an ungrateful slob like the people he hates.

Does this mean you should start shaving your head and claiming skin, well that is up to you. Skinhead is not right for everyone. You don’t have to be a skinhead to be a nationalist, you don’t have to be a skinhead to earn my respect. SWA is not a skinhead organization, SWA is a white pride Club, although most of us are skins. We are not just a skinhead brotherhood, we are a white brotherhood.
